Well-known in the county among police circles, ex-Police Constable W E Griffin and his wife, who reside at 5 Fletcher-road, Rushden, celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday. They were married at St Mary’s Church, Stoke Bruerne on February 13^th 1893, by the Rev. Mr Harrison.

For 28 years Mr Griffin, who is a native of Blisworth, served as a police constable in several parts of the county, being Wellingborough nine years, Oundle four years, Towcester, Higham Ferrers and Rushden. He joined the force on December 1^st 1892, and retired on June 30^th 1920.

Mr Griffin has an interesting record as a sportsman. He won many prizes at police sports for cycling and walking. One year at Northampton he walked against the great Larner, a police constable from London, and finished second. A member of the Spencer Park Bowling Club and won the Thurston Cup  …………..
