Stanley Norman Brooks

Stanley Brooks volunteered for service in World War I, and served with the Royal Sussex Regiment. He was wounded by shrapnel, and this had resulted in him having a metal plate in his head. In 1919 when he was discharged he had latterly been with the 7th Battalion The Buffs (East Kent Regt).

In 1922 Stanley married Florence (nee Thomas). He worked at Webb’s outfitters in Rushden, from 1913 until 1963, when he was presented with a gold watch to mark 50 years of loyal service.

Florence was a committee member at the Spencer Park Bowls club in the 1930s.

During World War II he helped with the work of the British Legion, and served in the Home Guard.
