Athletic Club – The games team of this club, who were joined by the cycle club and Harmonic Society, were entertained on Saturday by the general committee. A number of members of the Bedford South End Club, who were paying their annual visit also joined in the party. An excellent dinner was provided in the large room, about 150 sitting down under the chairmanship of Mr. D. Baldrey. The President Mr. G. Miller C.A. was unable to be present through public business. After dinner Mr. Frank Cross, games secretary, gave a brief report on the season’s games. In the Club Union Whist Competitions they had won the cup, beating Wellingborough W.M. in the final. In addition to the cup, they had won a money prize of £2 10s, which had been devoted to a roll of honour to their members who were serving in His Majesty’s Forces. In the district Air Gun League they had come second, winning the runner-up medals, which was a creditable performance, as some of their best shots were using their skill in the service of their country. There had been numerous handicaps and tournaments amongst the members of the club in which 868 had taken part.
