Primrose League.—A meeting of the members of the newly-formed habitation of the Primrose League was held at the Conservative Club on Wednesday evening, Mr. Paul Cave presiding. Among the company present we noticed Mr. R. R. B. Orlebar (Hinwick), Dr. Bellew (Wollaston), Misses Evans (2), Dames (hon. sec.), Carter, Burton, and Lack, Mrs Reid, Mrs Barwick, Mrs Hornsby, Miss Baker, Messrs S T Karn, G H Skinner, C Barker, W E Thompson, G Heath (Rushden), Mr R W Briggs (Wellingborough) and others.—Mrs. R. R. B. Orlebar was unanimously appointed Dame President.—A code of rules and bye-laws of the League was submitted, and approved of by those present.—The meeting concluded with a Vote of thanks to the Chairman.

Rushden Notes
DINNER—The annual dinner of the members of the Conservative Club took place in that building [Congregational School Room] on Wednesday evening last, when about 60 persons partook of a substantial hot dinner provided by Host and Hostess Hobbs, of the Waggon and Horses Inn. After dinner the company adjourned till eight o'clock, when a good programme of music was provided. Mr. Will Bacchus, of Northampton, who was especially engaged for the occasion, gave several songs in good style. |

Billiards—Rushden Athletic played Rushden Conservative Club at the Athletic Club last night. The home team won by 528-470, the score being: W Bailey (capt. Athletic) 93, W Warner (capt. Conservative) 120, F Sheffield 120, A Dickens 119, R Tye 75, E Houghton 120, H Groom 120, H Underwood 66, H Burfield 120, A Willmott 45. This leaves the Athletic Club champions of the league. They have played ten matches, of which they have won nine.

Presentation—At an informal meeting of the directors of the Rushden Conservative Club, on Saturday night, Mr. W. Saby Knight, for nine years the respected steward of the club, was presented, on his terminating the office, with a leather wallet containing £11 10s. in Treasury notes. Mr. W. H. Moody, chairman of the directorate, handing the gift to Mr. Knight, said that the donors hoped to meet Mr. Knight on many more occasions, though he would no longer be their steward. The directors and members wishes Mr. and Mrs. Knight long years of health and happiness. In response, Mr. Knight said he greatly appreciated the kindly feeling that had prompted the donors to make the gift, and he was glad that they had approved of his services, which had always been rendered to the best of his ability. Mrs. Knight also gave an expression of her appreciation.
