1977 Carnival
The Queen's Silver Jubilee year
These photographs came together, and are all taken from Wellingborough Road, close to the Mission Church.
There are several carnival queens; one is from St Neots in Huntingdonshire.
The first picture is the Rushden Charities Queen. The year is thought to be 1977.

Memories - I believe this was Helen Sharman (aged 18) who was the Queen and I was the Queen's deputy, Sherralyn Sweeting (aged 16). I'm afraid I dont recall the name of the Princess and her attendant. We older participants, had our beauty pageant at Rushden Sports Centre and Geoff Capes, the British Shot Putter, was one of the judges. At the time the Evening Telegraph was on strike and a picture of us four girls was on the front page of the paper when it appeared on News at Ten.
