County health chief - Mrs. A. Muxlow Appointed
The appointment of Mrs. A. Muxlow, of Rushden, as chairman of the County Health Committee was reported to yesterday’s meeting of Northamptonshire County Council.

Mrs. Muxlow succeeds Mr. H. R. Patenall, of Higham Ferrers, who held the position for ten years. She has given up the deputy chairmanship of the Children’s Committee.

A vacancy for one health visitor at Rushden was reported by the health committee.

Years of effort to find a site for the health centre at Rushden were described in the committee’s report. Recently, it was stated, an inspection was made of land in Woburn Place which is the subject of a clearance order. The property has twice changed hands of late and one set of owners refused to sell because the local authorities had given an assurance that the property would not be required for public purposes.

In the absence of a suitable alternative site the committee reported in favour of compulsory acquisition.

When the projected Rushden ambulance station is built a thousand gallon tank will be installed on loan from a petrol company whose petrol will be used exclusively by the station – at the rate of 7,200 gallons a year, it is estimated.
