Stray Marriages pre 1900

No register is extant before 1900 for the Old Baptist Church or the Independent Wesleyan Church but there were clearly marriages taking place at these Churches. Perhaps no formal registers were kept, but when they moved to their new Church a new register was started. These were found in some odd pages of The Argus Newpaper from this period and have been extracted, together with extracts from the Echo & Free Press and The Wellingborough News. These include reports marriages of Rushden people at Wellingborough Register Office.

A few events taking place at the Succoth Church have also been found in the newspapers.
The list below is marriages from various sources. One is from a certificate, (kindly sent to us) and it shows that this was marriage No.181. This perhaps suggests around 200 marriages had taken place at the Old Baptist Church before they began their new register in their new church in 1900.
