| As an aid to research into family history, Rushden Research is pleased to present transcriptions of the Admissions Books to various Rushden Schools.

Background In December 2001 our Chairman, Guy Sellick-Taylor announced Rushden & District History Society had been awarded £4,900 from the ‘Awards for All’ Heritage Lottery Fund, to enable a project to microfilm the old records of the three oldest primary schools, and then produce CD copies for the schools and our Society. The project was led by Joy Clayson with a small team of helpers. The three schools were South End, Alfred Street and Newton Road. The first admissions book for Newton Road was not found. Six months later all the books had been filmed, checked and the files were written on to CDs. Microfiche copies were given to the Rushden Library, each school had all three sets, and of course our Society had copies. [Visit Rushden Library to view the actual microfiche] It is thanks to these copies that ‘Rushden Research’ team has been able to print out copies of the Admission books for transcription, checking and then indexing. |
