I sent 32 children into the Mixed Department this morning. There are now 94 children on the books.

I found two children Ruby and Jessie Norris of 14 Fletcher Road to be verminous. I excluded them from school and the Attendance Officer Mr Mantle has placed this matter in the hands of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

The above mentioned children returned to school today. I received an assurance from the Medical Officer of Health that they have been cleansed.

Miss Sharp has been absent from school today as she is suffering from a severe cold. In her absence her class will be divided between Miss Norman and myself.

As there are only 58 children present this morning (125 on registers) I have not marked the registers. A Heavy fall of snow accounts for the poor attendance.
I shall send all of the children into the baby room and get their clothes dried and then take them for games and stories. It is not possible to send them home to be dried as the majority of the mothers are working in the factories on war work.

I have heard from Miss Sharp this morning to the effect that she will not be able to return to school until after the Easter vacation on account of personal illness.

The scheme will be found set out on page 277 (75) with the following exceptions. The lessons on Nature entered for Class 1 will be taken by Classes 1 and 2. The Babies will have no set nature lesson but will have chats upon weather conditions and upon natural objects suitable to the season.

This morning on account of a very severe snow storm only 23 children attended school. I received orders from the Chairman to close the school for the day.

Owing to the continuance of the snow storm only eight children put in an appearance this morning. By the order of the Chairman the school will be closed for two days.

On account of an epidemic of chicken pox and also of whooping cough the attendance is very poor this week.
