                                                B G (Ussher] HMI

The younger children were exceedingly restless this afternoon, and it was impossible to maintain discipline among them.  It is clear that the hours are too long, especially as the premises afford no facilities for marching and the classes distract one another.

The lower classes at any rate should be dismissedat 3.30, and it would be desirable that the morning hours for them should be curtailed also.

                                                          Signed BGU

Report for the School Year ending April 1900

The children are under intelligent and sympathetic influence; care and neatness are required in the work, and several improvements have been introduced in the syllabus.  But under present conditions, instruction cannot be carried on satisfactorily and the lower division was restless and inattentive at both visits.  The hours of babies might with advantage be curtailed.  Nothing has been done to remedy the defects in the premises to which attention has twice been drawn.  The desks should be provided with backs.

The School Board should take immediate steps (a) to remove the platform small gallery and all superfluous chairs and forms (b) to improve the surface of the playground and    (c) to provide each of the closets with steps (Article 85 (a) of the Code)

Report for School Year ending April 30th 1902

It is unnecessary to enlarge upon the inconvenient premises as a new building is in contemplation.  The teaching is energetic and painstaking, although the children are often inattentive and uninterested.  Owing to whooping cough a very small number of children was present on the day of the inspection and therefore the school did not appear to advantage.  The character of the work throughout is fairly good.  Several broken windows should be repaired and a new thermometer is required.
