Report for the School Year ending Apr 30th 1896
“The children are in fairly good order but brighter tone should characterise the school. Reading, number, and Object Lessons need more effective teaching. More kindergarten occupations should be taught to the first class and there should be more varied exercises in Musical Drill. Singing by note is quite a failure, the older children being unable to sing the easy intervals of the common chord. The desks are too high for infants. The Board may find an opportunity of transferring them to one of its upper schools, and getting proper infant desks for this school. There is no cloak room, the hats and cloaks of the children being hung up in the school room”
I am to point out that Miss Abbott is not qualified to teach pupil teachers.
