W G Wilmott
Road, Sewer & Tar paving Contractor, Stone, Sand & Gravel Merchant

William George Wilmott was son Thomas and Amelia. Thomas was born in Rushden, and Amelia was born at Galhampton in Somerset. They married in 1865 and son Thomas was born in Rushden in 1867, and son William George in 1869 at Chelsea. Two years later a third son, Walter was born at Shepton Mallet. By 1878 the family was back in Rushden.Thomas was a carman employing four men and one boy.

The business had grown from carting to contracting for laying roads and sewers.

In about 1885 William married Emma and they lived in Wellingborough Road. By 1901 they had moved to the business premises at 10 Fitzwilliam Street, when his father had retired and moved to Wellingborough Road. By 1924 William’s son Herbert had taken over the business.

William died in 1936.

GARDEN TEAMembers of the Park-road Wesleyan Mothers' Meeting held their annual garden tea at "Dulce Domum," the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Wilmott, Wellingborough-road, on Wednesday. Tea was served to about eighty guests and afterwards a pleasant ceremony took place, when Mrs. B. J. Harris was presented with a case of fruit spoons and servers and the Rev. B. J. Harris (minister), was presented with a tobacco pouch, both of which were made on behalf of the members. During the evening there were games and competitions.
