Hundred per cent Examination Passes
The annual distribution of certificates to students of the Rushden Co-operative Society’s Evening Classes for the session 1929-1930, took place at the Co-operative Hall on Monday evening. Once again a successful session was recorded, and the record of the previous year equalled, there being one hundred per cent successes in the examinations.
Mr. G. W. Coles, J.P., the president of the Society and the chairman of the Rushden Urban Council, who presented the certificates to the students, spoke of the value of such classes, and the necessity of attending them if anyone wished to succeed in the career he or she had adopted. It was not only necessary, Mr. Coles pointed out for students to be acquainted with the practical side of the business but they must know something of the theoretical side. He was very pleased at their record, and also of the excellent attendance at the classes.
Among the company present were Mr. A.J.Foulds, (Kettering),secretary of the Kettering and Wellingborough District Association, and Mr. Summerly, of the Wellingborough Co-operative Society's Education Committee, who addressed the gathering.
Certificates were distributed as follows: Salesmanship and Grocery, Pass, First Class, Frederick Langley; Pass, Second Class, Dennis W. Brumwell, C. Spencer, G. E. Lovell, E. R. Sawford, O. W. Clayson, F. Richardson. Advanced Arithmetic, E. R. Sawford, C. Spencer; Arithmetic Stage I, O. W. Clayson, F. Richardson.
