A 1952 advert from the
'Bless the Bride' programme shows there were two High Street shops and one at Wellingborough and one at Higham Ferrers.
Advert for Colton

Swart, Colton & Co-op
Colton's first shoe shop was at 102 High Street. A narrow alley leading to the rear of the shops is next to the shop.

Later they moved along to number 120, on the corner of Victoria Road, and also took the adjoining shop. Here they had the latest technology of the day - an x-ray machine to enable the staff to see exactly how much room children had for growth. The child stood on the machine and could look at their feet and watch as they wriggled their toes and see all the bones moving! (1950s)

They also had another shop in Higham Ferrers, on the corner of Nene Road and High Street.
