Rushden Argus, Friday 16 January 1903, Transcribed by Greville Watson

Rushden Industrial Co-operative Society

Heavy Task

Much interest has been roused during the week in the raising and fixing of a heavy iron beam or girder in connection with the new Co-operative building in High-street.  The different processes of removing the girder, which weighs some seven tons, from the railway station, unloading on to the pavement in front of the building, and slowly raising it to its position in the third storey, was watched at various times by a good number of interested onlookers.
