Committee Meeting held at the TEMPERANCE HALL 30th October 1877:
Chairman - John Bull: Secretary - Thomas Brightwell: Treasurer - George Perkins
First Public Tea 20th November 1877. Entrance fee 1 shilling. £10 shares per new membership.
Coal sold brought in 8 tons 7 cwt.
Salesman appointed 10th April 1878.
David Darnell 46 for 14 against: Thomas Brightwell 15 for 44 against: George Perkins 8 for 46 against
New shop at 19 High Street, opening 8am to 8pm weekdays, 8am to 10pm Saturdays.
Closed Christmas Day, Good Friday and Special Days.
Salary £1 per week plus 6d in the pound dividend on all sales.
Mr. Darnell required to place a personal Bond of £40 together with two separate Bonds of £25 from two of his associates.
Mr. Fosket, carpenter/joiner, of Church Street engaged to fit out new shop at a cost of £100.
Opening of new shop 3rd June 1878.
Resolved to have name on a marble slab in large letters.
Tender for fat pigs; Mr. Ed Knight 9/9d, Mr. W. Darnell 10/-.
