On Whit-Tuesday the annual pic-nic organised in connection with the Park-road Wesleyan-church was held, permission this year having been received to visit Boughton Park, near Kettering, one of the seats of the Duke of Buccleuch. About 50 journeyed from Rushden, brakes, waggonettes, cycles, and other modes of conveyance being utilized to convey the pleasure-seekers to Boughton. The preliminary arrangements had been made with great care by the Rev.C.F.Groom, and the party assembled at the Park-road chapel in good time, a start being made at about 9.30 a.m. The drive was by way of Irthlingborough, where a party comprising about 70 joined the Rushden friends. The journey was continued through Finedon and on to Weekley, Boughton Park being reached in due course. Cricket and other pastimes were freely indulged in, and a stroll through the lovely park was much enjoyed. Luncheon was partaken of al fresco, and in the afternoon a substantial tea was provided, being served in true pic-nic fashion. The return journey was commenced at about 7 p.m. and Rushden was reached shortly after 9 o’clock.

The members of the Adult Bible Class connected with the Park-road Wesleyan Church, to the number of 95, had a very enjoyable picnic on Saturday last at Bencroft Grange, Bedford-road, by permission of Mr.Twigge.  Cricket and other games were indulged in, and tea was nicely served in orthodox picnic fashion.  After tea, the pastimes were resumed, and at 8 p.m. the party joined in singing several hymns.  The President of the class (Mr.S.Michell) took the opportunity, on behalf of the party, of thanking Mr.Twigge for the use of the field, &c.
