Roast Beef and Plum Pudding for the Poor
of the Rushden and Immediate Neighbourhood
Sir,—As many of your readers are aware we are giving a series of entertainments to provide the above Christmas fare to at least 200 poor people at the Public Hall, on Boxing-day. We also hope to extend our effort and assist the poor during the winter months as far as funds will permit. The object is entirely unsectarian, being for the benefit of the poor of any or no denomination. Help is greatly needed. I therefore appeal to those who are looking forward to a joyous season, not to let their poorer brothers and sisters lack one day of brightness in the gloomy year. I shall be glad to receive contributions money or provisions, and if donors wish part of their gifts to be used for more continued relief of the poor during the winter months, their desires shall be carefully attended to. Will sympathizers kindly send at once, as many arrangements, depending upon the response of this appeal, have to be made. An acknowledgement will be made through your columns.
