Mr and Mrs J Wilson
Two Sons are Serving - Higham Ferrers Golden Wedding Couple
Mr and Mrs J WilsonBoxing Day was the golden wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs J Wilson, of 11, Corporation-terrace, Higham Ferrers, who were married at the Wellingborough Parish Church on December 26th, 1892, and have resided at Higham ever since.

A native of Little Addington, Mr Wilson started work when he was only 10 years old, being employed by his uncle, Mr James Wilson, of Mount Pleasant, Northampton. At Higham Ferrers he served the late Mr J Smith and Messrs Charles Parker.

Mrs Wilson (nee Ward) is a native of Thrapston, where her father was employed as a labourer by the Parish Council. At an early age she left Thrapston and went to live at Wellingborough, where she was employed in the boot and shoe trade.

Mr Wilson is 72 and Mrs Wilson 71. They have seven children living, one daughter having died several years ago. Two sons are serving in H.M. Forces; the youngest is in the Royal Corps of Signals in Africa, and the other, who left home at the age of 16 to go to Canada, is with the Royal Canadian Army in this country. There are 24 grandchildren, two of whom are serving, one in the navy and the other in the Army.

Mr and Mrs Wilson had an enjoyable party to mark their anniversary, 21 members of the family being present. They have lived in their present home for nearly 50 years.
