Fifty Years in One House
Golden Wedding of Well-Known Podington Couple

Two highly respected inhabitants of Podington, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Arnold Brown, celebrated tyheir golden wedding on Monday.

Mr & Mrs BrownMr. Brown was born at Podington and his wife at Hinwick. They have occupied their present home for 49 years and 10 months. Both enjoy good health, and Mrs. Brown still follows her hobby of lacemaking, which she has been doing for 64 years.

Mr Brown was in the employ of Messrs. Knowlton and Sons, timber merchants, for 36 years, and in his younger days was a member of the Podington Cricket Club.

The couple have been caretakers of the Podington Women’s Institute for the last 11 years. They have lived happily throughout their married life, and Mrs. Brown claims that they have never had a “tiff.” There are two sons, Mr. Ross Arnold Brown and Mr. Frank Brown, a daughter, Mrs P. Bryan, of Woodside Farm, Podington, and eight grandchildren.

On their golden wedding day Mr. and Mrs. Brown were the recipients of many presents and letters and telegrams of congratulations, and at a tea party were joined by many friends and relatives.
