Albert was born at Frodsham in Cheshire on the 23rd December 1894; this was registered in Runcorn, on the 2^nd of February 1895 (Vol.8a Page 248). As far as we can tell, he was the third son to Thomas and Emma.

Records show that he was baptised on the 5th October, 1895, in Frodsham, along with other members of the family.

By 1911 he was living in Erith Street, Leeswood, Mold, Flintshire and was working with his father and brother Henry, in a brickworks, as a labourer. At the age of 17 years 3 months, on April 6^th 1911 he joined the Territorial Army as William Albert Ainsworth, service number 893 and his Battalion was called to duty on the 4^th August 1914. He joined them the next day and was promoted to Lance Corporal that same day.

He came to Higham Ferrers as a Corporal with the 1^st Royal Welsh Fusiliers 5th Battalion F Company Mines at the start of the first world war.

The earliest record we have of this is that the Battalion training was taking place from the 1^st to the 10^th of July 1915. On the 13^th July of the same year the Battalion was entrained at Irchester station at 9.30pm & 10.30pm bound for Devonport, here on the 14th they embarked on H.M.T. “CALEDONIA” and set sail for Gallipoli. By the 12^th of August his fighting days were over as he was admitted to the field hospital being injured in battle taking shrapnel to both legs. He must have been evacuated almost immediately as by the 17^th of August he was admitted to hospital in Malta and was returned to Davenport Hospital by 5^th of October the same year. His service medals are on display at in the Welsh Fusilier Museum at Caernarfon Castle in Wales.

He was married to Mabel Annie Tailby on the 15^th July 1915 at the Higham Ferrers Parish Church by the Reverend Herbert Fry, Vicar, and the marriage was recorded at the Wellingborough Registry Office (Vol.3b Page 371).

They had three sons and two daughters, Albert Cecil (Jack), Avice Jeanette (Janet), Joseph, Megan Lucy, and David Thomas.

*There is evidence that Albert trained the Higham Ferrers football team in 1930-31. He passed away on the 31^st January 1937 in Northampton General Hospital at the age of 42 from pneumonia, (Vol.3b Page 90) we believe caused by a work related incident. At this time he was living at 21 Corporation Terrace**, Higham Ferrers, and was working as a Service Layer for the Gas Company installing and repairing gas mains and public lighting.
