Little Irchester Man Killed

Pte. Clark Wesley, of the Scots Guards, whose home was 16 Milton-road, Little Irchester, was killed in action in France on July 26th. He was 32 years of age, and previous to enlisting was in the employ of Messrs. Nicholson, Sons, and Daniels Tannery, Little Irchester. He was a good athlete and was a well-known cricketer and footballer. He was captain of the firm’s cricket team, and had figures in the Rushden Fosse, Wellingborough Redwell, and other football clubs. He was a native of Odell, Beds.

Rushden Footballer Killed - An Old Fosse Player

Official news has been received that Clark Wesley, who was well known locally as a footballer, has been killed in action in France. He formerly played back for Rushden Fosse, but just before enlisting he was playing for Irthlingborough. At one time he resided at New Wymington, but on obtaining work at Messrs Nicholson and Daniel's, he went to reside at Little Irchester. He was a native of Odell, Beds.
