Mr S Warrington

Mr Samuel Warrington, an ex-constable of the Huntingdonshire Constabulary, died on Thursday, November 9th at “Glatton,” Avenue-road, Court Estate, Rushden, at the age of 82 years.

Mr Warrington, a native of Glatton, Hunts., retired from police service in 1912, and three years later removed to the Court Estate, where he resided until his death. He had been in failing health for the past three and a half years.

Two daughters and a son are left. A younger son, John, was killed in the Great War, and Mr Warrington’s wife predeceased him in 1936. The only grandson, John Warrington, is serving with H. M. Forces overseas.

The funeral took place on Monday at Newton Bromshold, and the service was conducted at the Parish Church by the Rev. C Ayton Williams.

Mourners were: Mr Charles Warrington (son), Mrs Edith Mills and Mrs Ethel Watford (daughters). Mrs C Warrington (daughter-in-law), Mr Albert Watford (son-in-law), Mrs H Groom, Miss Edith Warrington, Miss Betty Warrington, Mrs John Warrington (granddaughters), Mr William Green and Mr Percy Green, Wellingborough (nephews), Mrs B Matthews, Mrs H Favell, Hemingford Grey, Mrs Young, Walkern, Mr and Mrs J  McCartney and Mrs H Gadsden. Ex-inspector Newton, Sergt. Brookbanks and PC Douglas were representatives from the Huntingdonshire Constabulary. Others present at the service were Mrs A Berrill, Miss Taylor and Mrs W Lines.

There were many floral tributes, including one from the Hunts. Constabulary.

Mr L Clark, of Rushden, was the undertaker.
