OBITUARY—With deep regret we have to chronicle the death which took place on Sunday Mrs. Pettit, wife of Mr. Samuel Pettit, the highly-respected postmaster of Stanwick. Mrs. Pettit, who was 72 years of age, was a native of Finedon, being a daughter of the late Mr. Samuel Wright, of Finedon. She was married to Mr. Pettit 47 years ago. She leaves, in addition to the bereaved husband, four daughters:- Mrs. Arthur Marchant (Stanwick), Mrs. Wright Harris (Nottingham), Mrs. Frank Wright (Radlett) and Mrs. Roland Saxby (Higham Ferrers). Until she was stricken with illness, the deceased lady was a devoted worker in the cause of temperance and in the various branches of the church with which she was connected—the Union Chapel (Baptist and Independent Wesleyan) at Stanwick. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. John Harris, of Finedon, and she has one brother in Australia. The funeral took place yesterday, the Rev. J. Bates, of Ringstead officiating. A short service was held in the Baptist chapel, and the interment took place in the Parish Churchyard. The chief mourners were:—Mr. Pettit (husband), Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Marchant, Mr. and Mrs. Wright Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Saxby (sons-in-law and daughters), Mr. Frank Wright (son-in-law), Mrs. Frank Wright (daughter) being absent through illness, Mr. and Mrs. John Harris, of Finedon (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. Lanham (son-in-law), Master Frank Lanham (grandson), Mr. and Mrs. Newman, Mrs. Charles Wright, Mr. Shelton, Mr. J. Jaques and Mr. Surridge (Rushden), Mr. Wills and Mr. E. Lack (Wellingborough). Amongst the many beautiful floral tributes were the following:—
