Irchester Man’s Death Pte. Leonard George
Parents’ Double Bereavement A Rushden Worker
We regret to report that Mr. and Mrs. John George, of Townwell-lane, Irchester, have received official news of the death of a second son in the service of his King and country. The official document which has just been received intimates that Pte. Leonard George, of the Northants Regt., was killed in action on October 17th.
The late Pte. L. George was 31 years of age, and enlisted about 18 months ago. After eight months; training at Gillingham he went to France last November, and up to October 27th, the date on which he met his death, he had come through unscathed, although he had fought in many engagements. Up to the time of his enlistment he was in the employ of Mr. John Clark, boot manufacturer, Rushden.
Mr. and Mrs. George’s first son, the late Pte. T. E. George, of the Northants Regt., was killed in action on September 27th 1915.
Much sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. George in this their double bereavement.
