Accidentally Killed - Tragic Death of Lieut. J. L. French

Mr. Geo. French, headmaster of Stanwick School, received the sad information on Friday afternoon from the War Office of the death of his eldest son, Lt. J. Lawson French, A.S.C., M.T., on Sept. 25th. No details are to hand at present beyond the fact that Lt. French is stated to have been accidentally killed,

Lt. French was formerly a pupil teacher at the Newton-road Council School, and later uncertificated teacher at the College-street Council School, Rushden, and joined up from Bristol College in June 1916, passing with honours. In August the same year he went to France, his last leave being in June 1917. Much sympathy is felt with the parents and family in their deep sorrow.
