Miss E Chambers, Higham Ferrers

A former teacher at the Higham Ferrers Council Schools, Miss Edith Chambers, of 4, Commercial-street, Higham Ferrers, died on Monday, at the Woodfield Nursing Home, Finedon, aged 65 years. She was the daughter of the late Mr Thomas Chambers of Manor Farm, Higham, and served her apprenticeship at the schools under the late Mr George Hustwaite.

About thirty years ago she left to take up an appointment at Rushton, which illness compelled her to give up several years ago. Since then she had been employed by Messrs A E Wright Ltd., Higham Ferrers, and afterwards held a temporary post in the paybox of the Royal Theatre, Rushden.

The funeral took place at Higham on Wednesday, a service being conducted at St Mary’s Parish Church by the Vicar, the Rev P Kirk.

The mourners were: Mrs L Turnell (cousin), Mr and Mrs Roland Gibbs (nephew and niece), Mrs E Gibbs, senr., Mrs Weed and Mrs A Brazier.
