Mr W W Chamberlain

Mr. W.W. Chamberlain, who on Wednesday was appointed to succeed Ald. T. Patenall as Mayor of Higham Ferrers, resides at “The Cottage” and has a prosperous business, with factories at Higham Ferrers and Rushden.
Several years ago he took up residence at Higham Ferrers, where his business ability and sound knowledge of the staple trade led to his heel and stiffener business becoming one of the best known of its kind in the district. These qualities, added to a charm of personality and pronounced generosity, made his path in public life very smooth, and his services on numerous committees were valued as they deserved to be.
Two years ago at a Town Council election he was returned at the head of the poll sure proof of his popularity with the townspeople. It is unusual for a Councillor of only two years’ standing to be offered the premier office, but Mr. Chamberlain holds the respect of the Council, and is one of the few members who can afford to take up a position which involves many calls upon time and purse.
