Big Contracts for Raunds
Government Orders Placed Locally
Boot Factories Working Overtime
In spite of the depression that has been felt by the boot trade as a whole, Raunds manufacturers have been rather fortunate, most factories working full time during the past few months, and in some cases overtime has been in vogue. Most of them, however, closed down for a week’s holiday at Christmas, but will reopen with better prospects than was the case last year.
During the past few weeks local manufacturers have been fortunate in securing large Government contracts, which, extending over the coming year, will form a good basis for the staple industry of the town. The new contracts included the following:
War Officeankle boots, etc., Messrs Adams Bros. (Raunds), R. Coggins and Sons Ltd. (Raunds), and Tebbutt and Hall Bros. Ltd. (Raunds).
Office of Worksboots, Messrs. Adams Bros. (Raunds).
