AMALGAMATION IN THE SHOE TRADE Messrs. H. Clarke and Co., of Ipswich, have, it is reported, amalgamated their business with that of Messrs. Johnson, Parker and Co., of Ipswich and Higham Ferrers. Great alterations are contemplated at the manufactory at Higham Ferrers. It is proposed to add a new wing on the north side, adjoining the cottage occupied by Mr C. Jolley. A great drawback to the trade of the town is the scarcity of cottages, as much work has to be sent out to the surrounding villages.
