Northampton Mercury  05 October 1867 

Petty Sessions - Podington - William Goosey, baker, was summoned for selling bread otherwise than by weight. Complainant deposed to seeing the defendant's man on the 9th instant selling bread, at Rushden, from the baker's cart without scales and weights, and called the baker's man, John Wesley, who admitted having no scales with him, but said he was not vending the bread, but was delivering to a shop, and he did not think it was necessary to take them for that purpose. Fined 2s. 6d, and costs 12s.

John James, Podington, for not keeping his dog under control at night, was fined 7/6.

Sharnbrook Petrol Case Adjourned

The hearing of charges against William Clarke Gilbert, of the Wheatsheaf Inn, Hinwick, which should have taken place at Sharnbrook on Monday, has been adjourned until Monday next.

Gilbert has been under remand for several weeks on charges alleging that he stole or received quantities of petrol, diesel oil and lubricating oil.
