John Hewet - will 1542

In the name of god amen. The xij daye of august in the yere of owre lorde mcccccxlii.

I John Hewet of Newnton in the cownty of North[hampton] hole of mynde & syke in bodye make my & last will in word and forme folowyng

First I bequeth my sole to almighty god and my body to be buryede in the church yerde of newton aforsayde. I bequethe to the mother churche of Peterboro v shillings.

Itm I bequethe to the hye alter of Newton xx pence to the bells one quarter of barleye. to the cawlsey [?causeway] in Neweton one quarter of barly.

Itm I bequethe to Margaret my wyf iij akers of barley one akre of wheat and ij acres of pease iij kyne and one yeryng bullok ij lode of hey xx shepe ij bacon hogs xx shillings of money ij lode of wode.

I bequeath to Robart my sone one half akre of wheat.

I bequethe to Alys my daughter one brasse pan that was hyr mothers.

I bequethe to Wyllm my sone one acre of barley.

To Rychard my sone iij acres of barley one acre of pease and a wenyng calf.

I bequethe to Nycolas my sone one acre of barley a heafor a wenyng calf and vj shepe.

I bequeth to Waters [Walter] my sone ij acres of wheat a wenyng calf and all the barley and peas that be left unbequethyde pay[ing] the barley to the bells and the cawlsey. Also I wyll that the said Water shall have my plough and ploughe gere and the carte and the cart gers [gear].

Also I bequethe to Rychard ij shepe and to every of hys chylder one shepe.

To Knottyng churche xx shillings to Yilden [??] church xx shillings.

The resydw [residue] of my goods nott bequethyde I gyve and bequeth to Robert Huet [&] Thomas Huet my sonnes to pay my debts & to bring me into the urthe & to dyserbute [distribute] in deds [deeds] of charyte where most neds be for all chrysten soules whom I make my executor of this my last wyll and John Scretton [or Screfton] my brother oversear of the same to whom I gyve xl pence thes men beryng wyttnes.
