Willim Grante - will 1616

In the name of god amen; the eight and twenteth daye of June in the yeare of our Lord god 1616: I Willim Grante of Newnton Bromshoulde in the Cowntie of Northton carpenter sic in bodie but of pfect memorie thanks be to almightie god doe make ordayne and constitude this my laste wyll and teastamet in maner and forme folowinge.

First I bequeath my soule unto the holie Trinitie the father the sone and the holie ghost and truste to be saved by myne only saviour Jesus Christ who hathe redeemed me with his passions, blood. Also I commend my bodie to be buried in the churcheyearde if Newnton aforesaide.

Itm [I] geve and bequeathe unto Brigett Weede my eldest daughter ij s.

Itm I geve and bequeathe to Margeret Grante my seconde daughter fourti shillings.

Itm I geve and bequeathe unto Angnes Grante my thride daughter fourtie shillings.

Itm I geve and bequeathe unto Eleanor Grante my fourth daughter fortie shillings.

Itm I geve and bequeathe unto Kateringe Grante my 5th daughter fortie shillings.

The residue of my goods my debts and legaces paide and my funerall expenses discharged I geve and bequeathe unto my welbeloved wyfe Kateringe Grante whome I make my sole executrix of this my laste wyll and testament.

In witness whereof, I put to my hande the daye and yeare above written before these witnesses
