William Fisher - 1778

I Will’m Fisher Rector of Newton Bromswold in the County of Northampton, revoking all former Wills by me made, do for the settling & disposing of all my worldly Estate, which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, make this my last Will & Testament in Manner & Form following, Viz:

I give & bequeath to my Dear Wife Mary Fisher my Farm-House at Earls Barton & little Home close & all the Premisses thereto belonging, and all my Land in the Fields of the same Parish, as lately allotted to me at the Inclosure there, for Her natural Life, & afterwards to my Son the Rev’d Wm Fisher & to his Heirs & Assigns for ever; And I give unto Him all my Books. On condition nevertheless that my said Wife Mary Fisher shall during Her Life pay Him an Annuity of sixty Pounds, at two half yearly payments, to commence from the Day of my Death.

I give & bequeath to my Eldest Daughter Eliz’h Fisher my House in Wellingborough & the Homested, Barns, Stables & all other Appurtenances therto belonging & to Her Heirs& Assigns for ever. On condition nevertheless, that my said Daughter Eliz’h Fisher shall from time to time & at all times after my Decease permit & suffer my said Dear Wife Mary Fisher peaceably & quietly to live & reside in my said Dwelling House & to have all manner of conveniences & privileges in the Premises there for her own private use for & during the Term of her natural Life. And I give & bequeath to my said Daughter Eliz’h Fisher & to Her Heirs and Assigns for ever my Home Close & all the other Closes adjoining, Copy-hold, which are now in my own Occupation, together with all the Fences & Trees thereunto belonging: On Condition nevertheless that my said Daughter Eliz’h Fisher shall pay to my Wife Mary Fisher, during Her natural Life, a clear Annuity of thirty Pounds at two half yearly payments, to commence from the Day of my Death. And lastly I give & bequeath to my youngest Daughter Eleanor Fisher & to Her Heirs & Assigns for ever all my Freehold Land, now in the Occupation of Mr.Ephraim Pattison, together with all the Fences & Trees thereunto belonging: On Condition nevertheless that my said Daughter Eleanor Fisher shall pay to my said Wife Mary Fisher during Her Life a clear Annuity of thirty Pounds at two half yearly payments, to commence from the Day of my Death. And I do appoint my said Wife Mary Fisher & Mr. Ephraim Pattison of Wellingborough Guardians for Her during Her Minority. And I give & bequeath to my two Daughters Eliz’h & Eleanor Fisher & to their Heirs & Assigns for ever Dun Ley Close & Dun Meadow, Copyhold, now in the Occupation of Mr. Ephraim Pattison, with all Fences & Trees thereunto belonging, to be equally divided between them share & share alike. And my Will is that they shall therefore equally contribute to pay my Bond Debts, out of the Land that I have given to them. And after the payment of all my other small just debts & Funeral Expences, I give & bequeath all my Household Furniture, Goods & Cattels and all my Personal Estate both here & at Wellingborough, of what Nature or Kind soever, to my Wife Mary Fisher for Her own Disposal. And I do nominate, constitute and appoint my said Wife Mary Fisher & my two Daughters Eliz’h & Eleanor Fisher joint Executrixes of this my Last Will & Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal this ninth of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight

who have hereunto subscribed our Names
as Witnesses in the Presence of the said Testator & also of each other

Probate: August 13th. 1778 Mary Fisher Widow and Elizabeth Fisher her Daughter, two of the abovenamed Executrixes appeard and made oath on their parts for the due execution and performance of the abovewritten Will; that the personal Effects of the abovenamed Testator exceeded forty Pounds in value at the time of his Death; that they will make a true and perfect Inventory of All the Goods chattels & personal Effects of the said Testator and exhibit the same into the Registrar’s Court at Northampton on or before the thirteenth day of February which will be in the year 1779, and will render a just Account of their Administration when thereunto lawfully called before me
