Court Estate Sale 1900
Northampton Mercury, 06 April 1900  - 03 August 1900

CHEAP FREEHOLD POULTRY FARM or "Country House" BUILDING SITE FOR Area, 5 acres. Price, £75. One mile from on the Rushden Court Estate. Fronts a first-class road in pretty position and high ground.

Rushden Echo, 31st August 1900
Advert Advert
Some plots were 5 acres and kept as small-holdings. Agriculture became more mechanised and they could not compete. Plots were sub-divided in the 1950s to 1970s. Now most are about ¼ to ½ acre plots, or smaller.

1900 sale notice
This advert is dated 31st August 1900, when the first plots were sold, with another sale of remaining plots occurring sometime prior to WWI.
From a reconstructed plan for the second sale the un-numbered plots had already been sold, so the south side Avenue Road was divided first.

The original plan - now in delicate state
The original plan is in a very delicate state, undated, and was photographed behind glass. Below is a reconstructed plan.
The plan, is perhaps the only surviving copy as the owner tells us it was passed around to anyone who needed to check on boundaries, hence the delicate state of it today. It has been folded and unfolded many times, and is now framed to protect it from further decay.
