Victory Tea
Children who live in Allen-road and Blinco-road had a "victory" tea-party in the dining room of the Covallen Engineering factory on Saturday. The tables were attractively set out and decorated with flowers - red, white and blue predominating. Thirty-six children in all enjoyed such things as jellies, blancmange and fancy cakes, and there was a special large cake covered with coloured icing made by Mrs. D. Watkins, of Blinco-road. After tea there were helping of icecream, and games were played. The money for the party was realised when the two streets sold their Fire Guard equipment and raised £7. What remains of the money will be devoted to the Rushden Serving Men's Parcels Fund.
