Rushden's Casualty List Men Killed, Wounded and Gassed In the Great German Offensive
The Record Officer of the Royal Naval Division, have official notified Mr and Mrs H Barron, of 30 Park-road, Rushden, that their son R/761, Able Seaman Thomas Henry Barron, Royal Naval division, has been missing from his unit since March 24th. Two or three of the seaman's Rushden comrades have written home giving information that he was wounded and, they expected, in England, but Mr and Mrs Barron have received no official information beyond above-mentioned, and are therefore entirely in the dark as to their son's whereabouts. AB Barron joined the Colours on February 20th, last year, and proceeded to the Western front on February 18th, this year. Up to the time of enlistment he was employed by Messrs. Knight and Lawrence, boot manufacturers, Rushden, and as a lad passed through the Congregational Church Sunday School, but subsequently joined the Park-road Baptists Young Men's Bible Class, and his name is inscribed on the Roll of Honour of that church. AB Barron was one of the first to join the Rushden platoon, 2nd Battalion Northants Volunteers, and he remained in the company right up to the time of joining the regular forces.
