Mr Cyril Desborough
A Rushden Cinema Operator
Presented with a Gold Watch by Temperance Workers
Eight Years’ County Service

In recognition of his eight years’ service Mr Cyril Desborough, of Rushden, the cinema operator for Northants and North Bucks Temperance and Band of Hope Union, was presented with a gold watch at a meeting of the executive at the Waverley Hotel, Rushden, on Saturday. Mr Desborough has been compelled to resign his office on account of pressure of other duties. Mr R Wiggins presided.

The Secretary’s report for the eight months ended March 24 showed that 38 towns and village had been visited, and 101 meetings addressed by the union’s speakers. The lectures in the day schools had been much appreciated.

The Motor Appeal Committee reported that about £80 had been promised towards a car.

Satisfactory progress was reported with the arrangements for the visit of the National Conference to Northampton in September.
