Charles E Thacker was the elder brother of Tom Thacker, manager at Jaques and Clark shoe factory. Charles was a well known musician in the district, and played clarinet and saxophone. Playing his saxophone, Charles was part of the orchestra for RATs productions in 1968 for Cinderellla, in 1969 for Mother Goose and in 1976 for Red Riding Hood. The picture below is his band known as 'Charles & his music' - playing with Freddie Hindmarch on trumpet, Ted Smith on drums and Jacky Bevan on piano.
Charles also guested with others, below with the Quinels, George and Madge.
Charles E Thacker died in 1992. He and his father Charles played bowls at Spencer Park Bowling Club, where they won trophies. |
