Query Club in the 1960s

Memories of Nick Holt :

The Q club was the last of the local clubs to cater for Motorcyclists’ and Car enthusiasts up to late 60’s early 70’s. I rode in the last scramble they held at the Wymington course in 1964, also competing in club trials they ran locally in the 60’s a couple starting at Higham Park Farm. They last held a trial at the late Gordon Ingram's Farm (a Q club member) at Bozeat just off the Easton Maudit road back end of the 60’s. As well as Yelden and Wymington, they held Scrambles at Hargrave, Stoke Goldington, Newton Blossomville and the sand pits at the back of Hall Avenue (I think there is still a pond and wildlife area where the pit was) and they also held several Grass Track racing events. I remember going to Overstone Park as a child, quite an event. The track was on a grass area in front of the main house, swimming pool to the rear!!! The events in the 50’s always drew a huge amount of spectators. Father commented on the fact they became a wealthy club and he suggested they buy land locally for events and club facilities, he was certainly not supported for this, but over the halcyon days they contributed thousands to local charities.
