Plans to close Broadlands Children's Home and Day Centre (for children with learning difficulties), in Victoria Road, were approved by councillors in 1997.
All we have found is the plan below, drawn in 1991, but there is no explanation included on the plan. Perhaps the red ring denotes an alteration?[perhaps built 1960s]

On the ground floor there was a lobby, toilet, office, staircase, activity & sitting room, kitchen, sitting rooms, another lobby with staircase, another activity & sitting room, and the kitchen/diner.
Upstairs there were 4 bathrooms, 16 bedrooms of varying size, and 3 store rooms.
Close by was a 3-bedroom house with garage - for the manager?
