A very small outbreak of fire occurred between top of air raid shelter and roof of boys’ shed. Caretaker attempted to extinguish but was unable to do so, so he notified the Fire Brigade who completed the job in 2 or 3 minutes. No reason for outbreak smouldering sandbags has been found.

A slight accident occurred during recreation period this afternoon to tony Linnell, who collided with another boy with result he banged his head against the rain pipe. The wound was bathed and Head teacher felt doctor’s attention was needed a stitch to be put in. Mr Dodge took the lad to a doctor, but doctor was not in. The lad was thereupon taken home and a visit to the doctor’s surgery in the morning was advised. Mother took child to doctor.

Other places visited were St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar square, Whitehall and Buckingham Palace. The visit conclude with a river trip from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge and along the course particular points of interest were pointed out to the scholars.

An accident occurred at approx. 3.50pm on Mon July 12th in Junior 2 room during Needlework lesson to Sonia Hyde who in putting the needle through material accidentally pricked her eye. Miss Winter, teacher, examined the girl but detected no injury. I knew nothing of the occurrence until next morning at about 9.15am when checking up absentees I noted the girl was absent and enquired the reason. I immediately approached Miss Winter who then detailed the happenings to me. The appropriate form (M J 26) giving particulars was completed and forwarded to the Office this pm.

Roger Allen tripped up in the playground. His arm was examined but nothing serious was found. Lad was advised to go to the Doctor if need be. An X ray was taken and small chipping of elbow was found.

It was reported that Janet Sayer, on her way from Sports ground about 4.35pm Miss Ruff and Mr Atkins in charge yesterday swung on some railings, fell and broke her arm. A Doctor was sent for and attended to the girl, who was taken to hospital. Mrs Sayer called this am to thank teachers for kind attention to the girl.
