An accident occurred in the playground during the recreation period to Margaret Helsdown who was running to the lavatory when she slipped over. Fractured forearm was suspected. Head teacher rendered first aid and Mrs Edge took the child to two doctor’s surgeries but no doctor was in. She was taken to the Cottage Hospital in Griffith St where the nurse suggested as the arm was well bandaged it would be wisest as no doctor was available for child to be taken home and attended to at surgery hours.

An accident occurred during drill lesson this morning at 11.15am. Derek Barsby tripped in running round the playground during an agility exercise. He banged his arm against the corner of a wall of air raid shelter. Fracture of forearm was suspected. Head teacher rendered first aid treatment and lad was taken to Dr Lean’s surgery where arm was put in splints. Mr Dodge escorted lad home. Dr Lean handed Mr Dodge a letter of introduction for treatment at Northampton hospital to which boy was taken by his mother in the afternoon.
