Service to old praised

ALBERT Campbell came down to earth with a bump when he decided to lend a hand to the WRVS delivering meals-on-wheels.

Mr Campbell, chairman of Raunds town council, visited 17 elderly people in Raunds and Ringstead to give them a hot meal.

And he described it as a very sobering experience to see how some old people live.

He said: "There was one old lady we visited whom we had to lift from her chair to the table so she could eat her meal.

"For some we were the only people they had seen since they last had meals-on-wheels. The WRVS acts almost like social services trying to make sure everybody is well.

"It was a real eye opener for me and I feel the members of the WRVS do a marvellous job."
