Winding Up St Peter’s F C
Through Lack of Support

At the annual meeting of the Raunds St Peter’s Football Club at the club house, Mr Arthur Gates presided.

The treasurer’s report and balance-sheet was given by Mr F Reynolds, showing a deficiency of £4.

The chief business was with regard to the club’s future. Considerable discussion took place, and it was decided that, owing to the lack of enthusiasm and support, it was thought advisable to wind up, especially as most of the old officials had expressed their intention of retiring.

The matter of raising a team to play Desborough for last season’s championship was then discussed, and after the last year’s protest and the decision of the Appeals Committee had been gone into the following resolution was moved and carried:- “We are of the opinion that the Raunds St Peter’s F C has been

Very Unfairly Treated

by the Appeals Committee of the Kettering and District Combination. Considering the evidence put before them by the secretary of the Combination, and also the decision of the Emergency Committee re the protest against Desborough Reserves on April 16th, we consider that we have indeed won the championship, therefore we cannot seen our way to attempt to raise a team to again play for what we have already won. We therefore decide not to play off a match with Desborough Reserves, and we express our disgust at the Appeal committee’s decision, by refusing to accede to their suggestion. The whole thing in itself is absurd – playing off one season the championship of the previous season.”
