BrowniesThe ninth birthday party of the 1st Higham Brownies was held on Wednesday week, when 42 Brownies and two past Brownies were present. The company included parents and friends and 160 sat down to tea. A birthday cake was given by Mrs. A. E. Wright. The Mayor (Councillor F. W. Margetts, J.P.), wished the Pack many happy returns. After tea there was a procession round the room, Miss Horne being at the piano, while Professor Stanley, of Northampton, entertained the company with a Punch and Judy and ventriloquial show, and later games were played. The judges for a fancy dress competition were the Mayoress, Mrs. T. Patenall, M.B.E., Mrs. R. Patenall, Mrs. Lilley, Mrs. W. Webb, and Miss Whiteman (Divisional Commissioner), and the Mayoress presented the prizes to the following Brownies: over 9, 1 Marjory Lloyd, 2 Norah Frisby, 3 Jean Rogers, 4 Vivien Martin; under 9, 1 and 2 Margaret Frisby and Muriel Denton.
