Sergt. Air Gunner Ronald James Dickson - 1945

Killed over Germany

Fate of Rushden Airman Confirmed

Further news from the Air Council to Mr. and Mrs. G. Dickson, of 115 Cromwell Road, confirms that their youngest son, Sergt. Air Gunner Ronald James Dickson, R.A.F., has lost his life as the result of air operations on March 13th.

The wreckage of the aircraft in which he was flying was traced near Rhede, Germany, and it was ascertained that the body had been buried in the cemetery at Rhede.

Sergt. Dickson was 19 year of age and had been in the R.A.F. since January 1944. He went to France three weeks prior to being reported “missing”. With his parents he came to Rushden from Croydon in 1941, and just before service was a dispatch rider for the N.F.S.

His mother is a postwoman at Rushden, and his elder brother has been discharged from the Army after four years’ service.
