Rushden Police Inspector's Son in Canada
A commission in the R.A.F. and his wing as a navigator have been gained in Canada  by Alan George Valentine, only child of Police Inspector and Mrs. R. E. Valentine of Rushden.

Pilot Officer Valentine, who is 23, has just been enjoying a holiday in Minneapolis and will now have further training in British Columbia. He was born at Northampton and lived at King's Cliffe and Weedon before moving to Rushden, receiving his education at Daventry Grammar School and Wellingborough Grammar School. Before joining the R.A.F. in 1943 he worked in the office of the Rushden C.W.S. boot factory and was associated with Rushden Youth Service Corps, taking a keen interest in the physical training at the Baptist Sports Ground.
