Took Messages Over Bridge
Rushden Soldier Awarded Certificate of Merit

H W RobinsonA certificate of merit signed by Field Marshal Montgomery was awarded to Signalman Herbert W. Robinson, Royal Corps of Signals, on Christmas morning.  This news, together with the certificate, has just reached his wife, who lives at 41, Westfield-avenue, Rushden.

Sig. Robinson went to France in August, followed on to Belgium, and is now in Holland.  He says that while at Nijmegen he took messages over a bridge continually while it was under shelling.

Sig. Robinson is 36 years of age and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robinson, of 100, Harborough-road.  He has been in the Army for three-and-a-half years.  Previously he was employed by Messrs. B. Denton and Son and was a member of the Windmill Club.
