Rushden Naval Man Dies On Service
Only a few weeks after the death of his father, Leading Supply Assistant Leonard B. P. (Jim) White, elder son of Mrs. White, of 67, Prospect-avenue, Rushden, has died on active service with the Royal Navy. A telegram informed his mother that he had passed away on board his ship, and fuller details by letter were promised.
The news has come as a great shock to the family and friends, and deep sympathy will be extended to the mother, sister and brother.
Twenty-three years of age, L.S.A. White was educated at Dunstable School and afterwards was in the Westminster Bank at Cambridge, Berkhamsted and Eltham. He joined the Navy on Dec. 5th, 1939, and had served nearly two years in the Far East.
His father, the late Mr. G. L. White, was well-known as chief clerk to Messrs. John White Ltd., and Hon. Secretary of the Rushden Hospital Week Committee. The sister, Mrs. Aubrey Guest, resides at Leicester, and the brother, Mr. Paul White, is engaged on meteorological work.
